As far as commercial lure I swear by and paid alot of bills with Russ Carman lures. Trails End, Pro's Choice for canine and coon. Raccoon lure no.2 and no.1 as a change up. Hudson Seal for muskrat and his Mink lure. Some of the other commercial lures are good and Ive tried alot as I was a supplier thru most of the 80's. Hawbakers and E.J. Dailey come to mind as ones that stood the test of time and impressed me. Pete Rickards lure was good but I havent seen it around for years and have run out. Ive tried the Cronks brand too with good results. Most will bring fur in, few are just a little better then others. We also use alot of our own homemade lure's.

For store bought stuff I use R&M lures, but the only stuff I buy is Mink Madness and Mink Marsh. Dont be afriad to use them little salad shrimp in cans link tuna or smoked oysters in tins like sardines.

I hear alot about O'Gormans. When I was a supplier I sold quite a few brands and tried/used quite a few too but I dont think I ever dealt with O'Gormans? We had our business in the 80's were they around then? Bait will catch crittters and we use alot of it but nose to nose I think lure will outproduce bait. I know a bait only line for mink works but the addition of lure or lure only sets produce more mink(just about my favorite critter to chase!). Recreational trapper during low fur price years and little or no competition bait works great for the common non canine critters but any other time lure will produce more in my opinion. 34th season last year and Ive kept records from almost the beginning and as my skill improved and I learned a few things and increased my lure use my catch numbers and ratio to traps/sets increased dramatically. Years where I took 80+ mink(never could break that century mark!) all but a handful were in lured sets, few in blind sets and maybe 3 or 4 in bait only/non mink sets.

Glad to be here, thank you. Ive went thru alot of forums and most were ok, this one and three others(ones a fishing mainly forum) are all I frequent now. I have no secrets but I found alot of people on other forums do and mainly want to brag instead of helping beginners/ new comers/ youngsters.

Wasnt as widespread Stick? Im sure I never heard or dealt with his stuff in the 80's? Alot of luremakers and supply dealers came and went in the boom years. We made and sold lure under several names as some dealers wanted to put their own label on. R&R was one. Buddy made a small fortune making "tar bait" from my family recipe. Alot of big name dealers bought his product and repackaged/relabeled it.
