I found a N.E.F. Handi Rifle(single shot) in .308. Scoped with a sling in good shape. Probably be a groundhog/yote gun around here. Think Im better with a repeater for probably twice as much? Ive wanted a .308 again for awhile. I put the cart before the horse but I got a reloader etc coming already. The gun only has had about 20 or so rounds thru it. Guy bought it and sighted it in then hunted antelope and mule deer one season out west.

I bought the N.E.F. Handi Rifle. Accurate and with the reloader the ammo isnt outrageous either. Looking for an all around bullet for everything from varmints to fur hunting to deer, mulies and whitetails. Any ideas or suggestions? Several groundhogs have already met their demise due to it already.

Thanks. I love and collect single shots. The N.E.F./H&R Handi Rifles are just about as utilitarian as you can get but they go bang everytime. Rossi and several others are making different calibers and gauges for their single shot type guns now too. Ive been eyeballing a .45/70 but in the light N.E.F. platform Im leery it could be a shoulder bruiser.

Talked with dad, he told me that you would be hard pressed to find a one size fits all.

Ah, I knew with some other calibers it was that way. Was hoping I would find a combo of powder and bullet that would do it all.

I shot Competitive BR a few years and in varmint htr for score H4895 was THE powder...any good 150gr bullet plenty for any whitetail more too much for good mushroom. If you have a shooter <1 MOA is VERY EASY in them.
