Guess I'll start it off(since I DID start the thread)lol!
But it would be cool to find out how you got started? What sparked your interest? Your first catch, etc. etc.
I used to spend the summers exploring the nearby creeks and streams. Fishing, wading, exploring, and such.
On one "Expedition" I discovered a stake sticking up out of the creek bottom...attatched to that stake was a trap! Had to be one of the COOLEST things I'd ever seen! So my buddies and I would search for more traps at every opportunity. The traps we found were traps that were obviously lost, missed, or forgotten by trappers. Judging by the debris, muck, and amount of rust on some of them. And the time of year we found them-late spring/summer after the school year was through.
I had seen pelts hanging in my uncle's garage a time or two. And was there the day my cousin came home with his first fox. And I knew that trapping was something I HAD TO DO!!!
I was 12 when I got my first trapping license. I had about 7 or 8 traps in my collection and headed for the creek one winter day. I set all my traps, in hopes of catching a $10 coon, the next morning I collected my first muskrat! I don't remember how many I caught that first year...maybe 7 or 8??? But a local buyer paid me $2-$3 a piece....BIG money for a 12 year old back then! ;D
Hope You All Enjoyed!
I'd sure enjoy hearing your story...

Here i am I was just a city kid started off as a fishermen and while I was out in the water I would see these fox walking the shores of where i was fishing . So one day when I was out I stopped by a rummage sale which has some traps there so i talked to the guy who owned them and asked if they was good for fox he said sure they would be great and I was thinking OH Boy thats a sales pitch lol. So I bought them and when i went fishing i brought them along and placed them here and there which being a green horn at trapping I figured I would have something by morning . Did a check the next day and nothing so I went to the library and did some reading on the matter and I became a fox trapper . Back then we use to get 110.00 per fox pelt . But about 9 to 10 year ago I started back up do to where i live and has people ask me to trap for them to get ride of some animals and i just grew from there , Then I became a Nuisance control operator and now i trap year around and love it ; )

Dad taught me how to snare snowshoe hare. While checking a snare line close to a small pond I caught a mink in a rabbit snare. That was it I told my dad i wanted some traps. Mom and dad told me to pick out what I wanted. I picked out a dozen 110's. That was 29 years ago. I still have about 4 of the very first traps I ever owned and use them to this day.
