I'd love to have some weasels to trap. Are ermine and weasel the same critter?

Oh ok thank you. They say we have alot of them here but Ive never seen or caught one and dont know anyone who has. We worked on gaining permission to several large ponds and lakes for rats today on the way to our farm/retreat. Rats are gonna be our main target again till we cant find any to trap or winter stops us. Our rat numbers are way down. We got several creeks and ditch's today too so Im hoping coons and/or mink pick up a little too.

This area here is very very shy on rats. It's the type of lakes we have here.

We dont know why are rats are declining? I think our huge otter population has something to do with it but the DNR wont open a season on them. Wherever we find lots of otter or otter sign the rats are almost non existent?

Otter do play a big part in rat populations along with fox, yotes and birds of prey.
